bye bye birdie~

Well, the school musical is over. *sigh*

It sure was hard to keep up with the rush of things, both with the musical and regular school. My classes seemed twice as hard since I didn’t have time to participate in them. And my english homework was killer!

I have so many projects coming up it’s not even funny!

But, let me tell you, after the musical was over and all of our costumes were packed and ready to be shipped back to New York…we all cried. Even the boys. As soon as the first boy cried, I was balling my eyes out. I love that kid so much it made me sad to see him cry! Then I couldn’t stop the water works. Some nice parent gave us pizza to eat after the musical, too, and we dug in after our crying session. I cried and ate that delicious pizza at the same time. We were hugging and crying, and saying “Bye Bye”…even though were all had plans to meet up at Denny’s ten minutes later. I’m proud to call myself a Drama Kid!

~Bye Bye!

It’s been pretty busy over at my school.

I’m still having a hard time believing that I’m a senior, and that I have less than two months left. It hit me pretty hard yesterday, around the end of the school day. But, I think the reason why I haven’t had much of a chance to think about it is because of the musical. I’ve even had dreams about it!!

For once, I’m relaxing. It’s nice. I haven’t done this in…a long time. The show is next week, and so is the paper coming out right after that, and then I have two finals/ research papers to turn in and another project. Will I have the time to finish it all? I sure better hope so.

bye bye free time

Wow, I haven’t updated this thing is a while. I think the fact that I get a grade for this will further motivate me to update this thing more often…especially since I noticed how important this is.

Well, my spring break was…busy. Almost too busy. I never actually left school, because I came to school for rehearsals for the spring musical. Wow, it really has been a while since I last wrote, since I don’t think I ever mentioned me being in the musical. I was a last minute addition, and I only have a supporting character’s role, and I also play a misc. person in the background. But, I’m still in the musical, which is all that really matters. I just love those crazy drama kids so much. They were the real reason for me auditioning in the first place; I wanted to be with them one more time. Since I’m a senior, this really will be the last time.

I emailed my best friend, and hopefully he’ll be in town to see me in the musical. If he makes it, then I could really care less if anyone else were there; he’s one of those people that you just want to make proud, you know?

Easter day was very nice. I got to spend it with my crazy Mexican family. I just love those guys. And the earthquake was a trip! I felt my legs wobble, but it didn’t really click with me that it was an earthquake. I just thought that I was unsteady or something. After it was over, my relatives all looked down at their beers and said, “Tipsy already! But I only had a sip!”

My schedule is packed for the next two weeks. I have spring musical rehearsals every night after school. I have to find time to get the newspaper out, as well as learn the computer program. I have difficulty learning something without actually trying it first. Meanwhile, I have to practice a dialogue skit for my regular drama class!! All of this will be due at the end of April. Well, got to start ASAP.

that chick in the pit

Well, on Saturday I experienced my first concert. Yes, I know I’m a deprived child.

At Angel’s Stadium, Bamboozle was in town and a music fest was going on, and I decided to join.

Here, I found many things that surprised my fragile and innocent mind:

1. Lots and lots of pot smoke

2. Mosh pits are super scary for a 125 lbs. female

3. Food and drink cost and arm, leg, and your spleen

I swear I should have been floating on Cloud 9 after all of that smoke I inhaled, but I guess drugs like that don’t have a pleasant effect on me. I was so irritated, annoyed, and overall in an unhappy mood for most of the day. I was waiting for one of my favorite bands, and they didn’t come on till late in the day.

The pit was crazy. Those things form at unexpected and random times, and not I’m much the wiser. Ok, so I thought “I want a good view up front.” So, I moved up and got a nice view. Yay. Then, a girl not much older than myself swore and said, “Oh ****! It’s a pit!” And lo and behold, some testosterone-pumped men were banging into each other like rams and wild things on the run. It scared me so bad! Then, I shoved back and forth like in a dangerously weak roller coaster in a sea of people. The smell of pot, body odor, and ‘boy’ was fresh, mixed with the heat of a pre-summer hotness. It was windy that day, but in the pit I felt none of it. In order to get a decent breath, I had to tilt my head back and suck in a quick puff of air, then dive back under.

Concert: $60, T-shirt: $20, Sweatshirt: $40, Piece of Pizza: $6, Small Gaterade: $6.25, The Smell of Pot and Boy on my Clothes: Free, Seeing Angels and Airwaves in concert: Priceless

college?

Today was pretty relaxing and easy-going, despite my earlier thougths from last night. The time change wasn’t too bad for me, surprisingly, but I heard a lot of other students complain about it even after it was well into the school day.

I’m getting more and more excited about graduating high school. I will be sad to leave high school, but I’ll appreciate it all the more if I have fun with my friends. A lot of them are going overseas, but I’m gonna stick around here and study for my degree. I had thoughts about going to the east coast, but I’ve decided against it. My dream is to got UCLA after I finish college.

I’ve got more homework to do, so I’ll have to stop here. I’d like to write more, but I’d like to read this new manga I bought, but I’d like to get the other stuff done first. Sometimes willpower can overcome anything…

drama time

Coming up is my high school’s spring musical, and this year we will be doing Bye Bye Birdie. I’ve heard many good things about it, and I can’t wait for it to come! The cast are now meeting and being assigned their roles in the musical.

You know, it wasn’t until I became a senior that I became interested in musicals and plays. But, now I’m in drama class, so I do understand the pressure a performer has when they go up on stage, and how one line can change everything. I remember when I was in Reader’s Theater, first night, it was the last scene, and I was having a ‘conversation’ to the boy I was on stage with, and he skipped one of his lines. You only have a second to try and recover when you mess up, but I had his back and recovered the show for that moment. I also messed up sometime within those two days, but it wasn’t as heart-stopping like it was the first time nor at such a crucial part.

Yup, I do like drama now, but it’s still difficult for me. Kinda like a love-hate relationship, really. But, those drama kids are wonderful! They really do know how to have a good time…

Ok, so I was just on Pizza Hut’s website, getting ready to order some dinner with my mom (pepperoni, sausage, and black olive ^_^) when I saw this little ad at the bottom of the site. It was a cry for help! for Haiti. So, I turned to my mom and said, “Has everyone forgotten about Chile?” I mean, it’s pretty close to us, just south of where I live in Southern Cali, so why aren’t we as concerned? Well, maybe I’m exaggerating, and only Pizza Hut isn’t showin’ the support. Maybe it’s because Haiti has been in need of more help for a longer time span, but I haven’t seen commercials or ads for Chile on tv or anything. Hmm…maybe I would if I actually watched tv, huh? Oh well, I had something to write about, so I did (see?), so I’ll leave that to it.

Well, I watched Alice in Wonderland twice already. I saw it on the openning day, too! I haven’t been this excited about a movie in a long time!!! The last time I was this happy watching a movie was the Harry Potter movies. I love fantasy stuff like that, and Alice is my new love (no pun intended). I also bought the book, and intend to read it as soon as my school work allows me to. I won’t give any spoilers or anything, but I will say that I loved the cast, the humor, and the CG. Alice in Wonderland was a great movie!

~Bye!

I’ve got a lot of things to talk about this time!!

Long time no see. I’ve been pretty busy lately and I now have time to write, mainly because I’m at school and doing this during school time. Well, let’s see, I have my second ever field trip in high school scheduled for Friday. I’ll be participating in Read Across America, which is a program that has high school students go to read to little elementary children. It should be really great, and I expect to be completely exhausted by the end of the school day. We’ll also be able to play with them during recess. I’ll have my glasses off, my good sneakers on, and my hair tied, plus my glucose tablets in my back pocket – I’m ready for ‘em!

I can’t wait till after that school trip. I’ll propose the idea to my fellow Readers to stick around the mall and see Alice in Wonderland. I’m so excited to see that movie!! It should be a real trip, since the Disney version was enough of a trip, and that was a cartoon intended for children. Ahh…good stuff.

Also, did I mention anything about the concert I’m going to? I know not many, if any people read this blog, but if you do and if you’re in Southern California, come join me in Anaheim for the Bamboozle concert featuring Angles and Airwaves. It should be awesome!!

~Bye

I hope my editor can forgive me for posting so late, but I just got out of the shower a minute ago. I got home late because I was an actor in my high school’s Reader’s Theater. In fact, I saw my editor there. Hi Editor!

It went much, much smoother than I thought it would. There were mistakes and good cover-ups with a little dash of BS-ing here and there, but I’d say it was a job well done. At least for the first night performing in front of a live audience of more than three people.

I played a few different roles: Alice, Witch, and #2.

I was (still am until our last performance tomorrow) Alice from Alice in Wonderland; the Witch from “This is Halloween” from Nightmare Before Christmas, and number 2 in order of dieing in our skit of 23 Things Not To Do In a Horror Flim. I had 5 skits that I performed in. I’m actually not as tired as I thought I’d be, but I still have homework that I must finish before, perferably, midnight.

Come and see Reader’s Theater 2010 and support Gahr High School!
